What is the NCUK International Year One in Law?

The NCUK International Year One in Law is a first-year undergraduate equivalent programme (Level 4) that prepares students for progression to the second year of a law-related bachelor’s degree (LLB) at NCUK partner universities. 

Students who successfully complete the programme can progress directly to Year 2 of an undergraduate law degree at an NCUK partner university, subject to meeting progression requirements.

The programme includes five core modules designed to introduce key areas of law and legal research:
• Contract Law
• Criminal Law
• Public Law
• English Legal System & Legal Research Skills
• Tort Law 
These modules build the legal knowledge, research skills, and analytical thinking required for university law studies.

The programme typically takes one academic year, divided into two semesters of study.

Assessment usually consists of:
• Coursework (50%)
• Final examinations (50%)
Students are assessed separately in each module through assignments, essays, case analysis, and exams.

Typical entry requirements include:
• Completion of the NCUK International Foundation Year with required grades
OR
• Two relevant A-levels (minimum grade C)
• English language proficiency (NCUK EAP grade C or equivalent)
• Successful admissions interview.

After completing the programme, students may progress to degrees such as:
