The Postgraduate Level 7 Diploma in Business Management is awarded by iQualify UK. This course is designed to enhance your career prospects and develop your skills and can lead directly into the advanced stages of MBA and Masters degree programmes. You will explore an extensive range of contemporary issues and develop the critical, analytical and practical skills to succeed as managers and leaders.

All five units are each assessed by a 3,500 word written assignment.

Entry Requirements

  • A first degree in business, management or related subjects or a level 6 qualification for example a Diploma in Management
  • Other equivalent international qualifications
  • Extensive relevant work experience (paid and/or unpaid) with levels of responsibility, participation and/or achievement of a range of relevant professional qualifications.
  • Learners must have an appropriate standard of English which is commensurate to CEFR Level B2 (or equivalent).

Course Elements

This unit will provide the strategic understanding of:

  • the nature, scope and need for strategic business management and planning in international profit and not-for-profit organisations
  • a range of classical and contemporary models, concepts and tools in business strategy and planning
  • the processes by which organisations identify and develop their goals and values
  • the impact of political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal factors
  • the key forces that represent both opportunities and threats to organisations whether for profit or not-for-profit
  • the strategy process for an organisation to achieve competitive advantage
  • the future challenges affecting strategic business management and planning.

This unit will provide the strategic understanding of:

  • how to use financial statements to evaluate performance, and understand the limitations of such analysis
  • how to use, and appraise the effectiveness of, management accounting information in the planning and control of an organisation’s resources
  • how to critically appraise and evaluate contemporary management accounting methodology to support the effective management and control of resources
  • how to identify and critically assess the management and performance of tangible and intangible resources in business strategy and planning
  • organisational objectives and alternative finance available to fund the achievement of these objectives
  • how to use financial data, techniques and tools to evaluate long term capital decisions
  • the international aspects of financial strategy
  • the sources and consequences of risk for organisations and know how these risks may be managed.

This unit will provide a strategic understanding of:

  • the contribution that an organisation’s employees can make to competitive advantage and the advancement of the strategic vision and values
  • be able to apply appropriate strategies for people resourcing, retention and development
  • strategies for enhancing employee commitment and engagement within an organisation
  • the potential value of leadership approaches linked to High Performance Working (HPW) at all levels in the organisation (strategic, managerial and operational/tactical)
  • be able to implement the theories, concepts and techniques associated with organisational change
  • how to apply the capabilities associated with the effective management of change, and be able to maximize the contribution of people, within an HPW culture.

This unit will provide a strategic understanding of:

  • how to analyse the business environment and development of a business organisation which operates worldwide
  • the relationships between an organisation’s resources, product/services and its environment
  • how to evaluate business ethics from a worldwide perspective
  • the concepts and perspectives of Corporate Governance in an organisation which operates worldwide
  • the impact of corporate social and environmental responsibility on organisations
  • how organisations manage corporate governance and ethics in order to achieve corporate goals
  • how to implement and monitor ethical and governance issues in developing an appropriate corporate strategy.

This unit will provide a strategic understanding of:

  • the role of research methods, as used in business
  • how to research methodologies that relate to business research
  • how to develop research designs from quantitative and qualitative perspectives
  • how to set research objectives and plan a research project
  • management, business and marketing theory and the relevant literature from varied sources that contribute to the research project
  • how to determine a specific marketing related research issue, set research objectives, plan and carry out a research project, critically analyse and evaluate evidence, and report the findings and outcomes
  • how to design the data collection surveys from quantitative and qualitative perspectives, evaluate the contrasting research methodologies and determine the best approaches to obtain the required data
  • how to write up the results of the project as a business consultancy report.

Professor David Faulkner

Professor David Faulkner is an Oxford educated economist by background, who prior to becoming an academic 26 years ago spent much of his earlier career as a strategic management consultant, and business builder. Apart from being the Dean and Founder of Magna Carta College, he is Emeritus Professor of Strategy at the University of London, and was formerly Visiting Research Professor, The Open University. He was Deputy Director of the Oxford University Said Business School, Director of the MBA programme for the Oxford University and Director of Undergraduate Programmes.

Dr. Abdul Rehman Shahid

Dr. Shahid has worked in academia for several years, teaching and researching in a number of leading universities including Information Technology University (ITU), Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL), and the University of Sussex. He has a wide experience in teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and postgraduate students. His areas of interest are Business and Management.

Sumbal Manzoor-CMgr MCMI

Sumbal Manzoor is an experienced academician and management professional who is Head of Centre at ICE. She also holds the General Manager (Academics) position at iQualify UK and has been associated with the higher education sector, in UK and Pakistan, for the past decade working in different capacities that include Lecturer, Programme Coordinator, Education Manager and Research Supervisor.
Along with holding a Chartered Manger status, she acquired her Graduate & Post Graduate qualifications in Business Administration & Strategic Management and Leadership from Buckinghamshire New University. Sumbal continues to work with the Chartered Management Institute-UK as a Lecturer, vocational trainer and assessor pursuing professional management qualifications.

Dr. Anthony Stevenson

Dr. Stevenson has a Ph.D. in Finance Banking from Loughborough University along with an MSc in Finance and an MBA in Finance from University of Leicester. He is currently serving as Academic Lead Accounting and Finance at University of Derby since 2017. He has experience in teaching internationally having taught in Asia and many other parts of the world including serving as the Head of the school at KDU University College Penang, Malaysia in 2016, the Director of Banking Studies Senior Lecturer Banking and Finance from 2014-2016 at James Cook University Singapore and as the Director of Finance and Banking Senior Lecturer Finance University of Bedfordshire. In addition, he has published research papers in the areas of bank lending behavior and the impact of constrained liquidity on small firms in Europe.
